Ten years ago when I posted my very first ad on Craigslist as a photographer, it wasn’t to shoot weddings. I wasn’t sure what my niche would be yet since I was brand new to professional photography, but I knew I was drawn to photographing couples and the connection people share when they’re in love. I advertised that I wanted to “photograph a couple at home, just as natural and relaxed as you would be on a typical Sunday morning.” With Tommy & Chelsea, both artists themselves, I finally had the opportunity to do that shoot I’d envisioned all those years ago (with some wonderful bonuses like a tolerant kitty and a home adorned with art made by the couple themselves ).
This shoot was better than I could have ever imagined. But the best part wasn’t even the photos. (Though I am completely in love with them.) Meeting Chelsea & Tommy felt like making an instant soul-connection and I am so thankful the universe brought us together (via a mutual friend!).
